Mamas & The Papas- "If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears" LP (Sundazed)
Upon its release in 1966, The Mamas & The Papas' debut LP 'If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears' introduced a fresh new sound that would permanently alter the face of contemporary popular music. Leader John Phillips' visionary producing, arranging and songwriting abilities combined with the quartet's breathtaking harmonies to make music that was both effortlessly accessible and creatively adventurous. The album quickly topped the Billboard album chart, bringing folk-rock into the pop mainstream and making Phillips, his then-wife Michelle Phillips, Denny Doherty and Cass Elliot into instant multimedia celebrities. In the years since its release, 'If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears' has come to be regarded as one of the finest pop albums of the ’60s and one of the best debut releases ever, with such instant classics as "California Dreamin’", "Monday, Monday" and "Go Where You Wanna Go". At the time of the album's initial release, the presence of a toilet in the periphery of the album's cover photo caused faint-hearted moral guardians to pressure the group’s record company to excise the offending fixture from subsequent pressings of the album. Sundazed’s new vinyl edition of 'If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears' restores the rare, long-missing "toilet" cover, and features the album's superior original mono mix.

The Ventures- "The Ventures Christmas Album" LP (Sundazed)
As rock's biggest-selling and most influential instrumental combo, the VENTURES are one of America's most iconic bands. Long before anyone had heard of the Beatles, the Ventures influenced kids around the world to invest in electric guitars. The quartet delivered a sleek, instantly recognizable sound whose influence spread as far as Japan, where they remain bigger-than-life superstars. Having recently celebrated the group’s 50th anniversary as well as their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Ventures continue to exercise a massive influence on nearly every instrumental guitar band that followed them. One of the band's best-loved longplayers is 'The Ventures' Christmas Album'. Originally released in 1965, it finds the foursome applying their trademark style to a dozen familiar yuletide tunes, including "Sleigh Ride", "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town", "Jingle Bells", and "White Christmas". The Ventures soup up these seasonal standards by adding snazzy guitar phrases that quote then-current rock 'n' roll hits by the likes of the Beatles, the Searchers and Johnny Rivers, as well as a few older Ventures classics. Sundazed Music has mastered this vintage gem from the original analog tapes and pressed it on 180 gram vinyl, with complete original cover art.

Warpaint- "The Fool" LPx2 (Rough Trade)
On The Fool, Warpaint sound surprisingly delicate, given their combative name. The L.A. group’s first full-length picks up where their debut EP Exquisite Corpse left off, serving up darkly feminine songs with instinctive structures that call to mind the explorations of Rings and Telepathe. The Fool’s songs are so impressionistic that it’s easy to hear why some have called them dream pop or shoegaze, but Warpaint’s sound isn’t so easily classified. Some songs resemble icy post-punk experiments, but cooing vocals add a push-pull quality that’s more intriguing than either element on its own. A flower child witchiness seeps into every track, most strikingly on “Majesty,” which begins as an eerie lament and then ignites into a lysergic jam complete with interstellar Rhodes keyboards and electro-toms.

Andrew Bird- "Useless Creatures" CD+LP (Fat Possum)
Originally paired with the Deluxe Edition of 2009’s Noble Beast, the cleverly titled Useless Creatures features nine instrumental tracks that illuminate violinist/songwriter/compulsive whistler Andrew Bird's ambient, experimental side. Bird's talent for looping just about anything serves as the project’s foundation, and the rich tapestry of strings, found objects, insects, and other assorted creatures of the Midwest dutifully paints a picture of a summer day/night leaning against the barn door where Bird keeps his studio on the outskirts of Chicago. If anything, Useless Creatures provides fans who covet the meandering, more exploratory tracks that often populate his proper albums with a full plate, while giving those who are drawn more to his radio-friendly pop leanings an out. Whether it’s the Konono Nº1-inspired Afro-folk of “Hot Math,” the languid crossover classical vibe of “You Woke Me Up!,” or the epic Eno-esque “The Barn Tapes,” Bird lets each track blaze its own trail, allowing for a listening experience that is surprisingly organic, considering the near constant barrage of digital manipulation.

No Age- "Everything In Between" LP+CD (Sub Pop)
Los Angeles experimental lo-fi drum-and-guitar duo No Age are Dean Spunt and Randy Randall, ex-members of hardcore band Wives. Through assorted indie labels, No Age released limited runs of vinyl-only EPs before collecting many of those tracks for the singles collection Weirdo Rippers, issued by U.K. label FatCat in summer 2007. The record's cover pays respect to the Smell, a venue/art space they felt was partially responsible for the livelihood of both No Age and Wives. The duo is also kNown for its videos, performance art, and visual art, as well as curating an exhibition that included works by Devendra Banhart and others. The band moved to Sub Pop in 2008 and released its full-fledged debut album Nouns. The group's sophomore effort, Everything in Between, followed in 2010. LP is limited edition with giant booklet.

Tricky- "Mixed Race" LP (Domino)
Recorded in Paris, where Tricky has been residing for the past two years, Mixed Race is his most passionate album to date. Musically his production work takes influences from UK, Jamaican, US, North African and French music. He sets out on his music mantra with the album’s lead off track, “Every Day,” and then proceeds through a lyrical journey with temptation, reflection, mischief and misbehavior. The album was produced by Tricky and features as always an array of talented singers and collaborators. Mixed Race introduces Irish-Italian Frankey Riley, as well as guest appearances from Jamaican singer Terry Lynn, Primal Scream front man Bobby Gillespie, lutist/vocalist Hakim Hamadouche, London-based vocalist Blackman and Tricky’s brother Marlon Thaws, who is the thirteenth of his fourteen siblings.

"STAG HARE is a unique & evolving artist whose music taps into timeless timeless elements. Taking form in a never ending blanket of hush electronic drones, textured percussion, & thoughtful melodies.

Mirrorthrone- "Carriers Of Dust" CD (Red Stream)
"Carriers of Dust" is an unstable stream where extremities tend to gather constantly; hence the unusual cohabitation of powerful and epic tones alternating with suicidal and desperate colors. Keeping the radical Romantic and Baroque base lead by a blasting extreme metal pace that had built the identity of the previous release, this new opus integrates more diverse influences which give an almost progressive taste to the music. Benefiting from a massively improved production (especially on the drum level) this new release should convince all those who remained skeptic with the debut album.

Destroyer- "Archer n The Beach" 12" (Merge)
DESTROYER's limited-edition 12-inch "Archer on the Beach" b/w "Grief Point" is inspired by the music of Kranky recording artists TIM HECKER and LOSCIL and achieved through their full collaboration. "Archer on the Beach" (Dan Bejar - vocals, Tim Hecker - music) is a meditation on grappling with the 20th century in one's own special way and with style, this time through singing quietly, through repetition, and through leaving lots of space between words, as well as finally learning to love crowds and nature. "Grief Point" (Bejar - vocals, Scott Morgan aka Loscil - music) is the first recording Bejar made after deciding never to record again. Limited edition of 1000 copies.

Monster Magnet- "Tab...25" CD (SPV)
2nd album from these space lords. Heavy droning stoner rock from 1993. First song is 32 minutes long. "Tab...25" sounds exactly like the nightmarish orange-eye image on the back cover looks: weird, alien, and not quite in control of itself

Black Keys- "Brothers" LPx2 + CD (Nonesuch)
Back in stock. Double LP with bonus CD & poster.

Arcade Fire- "Funeral" LP (Merge)

Radio Moscow- "Brain Cycles" CD (Alive)
Ride the groove on Radio Moscow's 2nd album "Brain Cycles". Named for the pre-Cold War precursor to the propaganda outlet Voice of Russia, Radio Moscow are a blues-rock trio from Ames, IA, with a similarly anachronistic retro feel. Where bands like the Black Keys (whose guitarist Dan Auerbach produced Radio Moscow's debut album) and the White Stripes play with a stripped-down, modern take on the old power trio sound, Radio Moscow hark back to the glory days of the power trio, when Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and Blue Cheer roamed the earth and the power of the Marshall stack was unquestioned.
