Much like Nakamura's previous conceptual projects, Dr. Octagon and Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030's self-titled album and single sends the hip-hop triumvirate into the year 3030, where -- as the sole survivors of earth -- they travel through the galaxy. Both the album and single were released in 2000 on 75 Ark Records.

Propagandhi- How To Clean Everything CD+LP
    Back in stock.

    Real McKenzies- Westwinds CD+LP
    Brand new!

Neutral Milk Hotel- In The Aeroplane Over The Sea LP

James Brown- Say It Loud, I'm Black & I'm Proud LP
Although historical evaluations of James Brown's work during the last half of the '60s tend to focus on the innovative funk of his biggest hit singles, his repertoire -- both live and on record -- in fact remained pretty versatile. Like his other '60s studio albums, Say It Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud is more R&B/pop-conscious than a lot of listeners would expect, mixing the funky monsters "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)" and "Licking Stick" with soul ballads. It's a notch above similar albums from earlier in the decade, however, in that the slow numbers are usually gritty slow-burns that eschew syrupy orchestration.

White Hills- Heads On Fire LP
Superb heavy space rock from New York. Definitely for fans of Hawkwind etc,

    Elbow- Open Arms 10"
Brand new e.p. from the UK's Elbow.

    Black Flag- Six Pack 10"
Back in stock on 10" vinyl.

DJ Shadow- Scale It Back 12"
For those of you that want the acapellas and instrumental tracks to "Scale it Back" feat. Little Dragon or the Stems for "Stay The Course" feat. Talib Kweli and Posdnuos of De La Soul or the extended tour version of "Run For Your Life"...

    Farflung/White Hills- Split 12"
Two of our best modern space rock bands team up for a hurtling solar ride.

    Jack White- Sixteen Saltines 7"
Second single leading up to the full length "Blunderbuss". Coming in a few of weeks.

    Jack White- Love Interruption 7"
First single leading up to the full length "Blunderbuss". Coming in a few of weeks.

LCD Soundsysten- Sound Of Silver CD+LPx2
Both formats now back in stock.

Rod Stewart- The Rod Stewart Album CD

Budget reissue from legendary singer & songwriter.

    Kleins96/Tomorrow Starts Today- Split 7"
Hometown punk rock boys release a split 4 song 7" on clear vinyl. Support the scene man! Harvest King Records.

Willie Nelson & The Family Band- Honeysuckle Rose
Soundtrack to Willie's awesome semi autobiographical movie from the 80's. Budget reissue.

    Bob Dylan- Self Portrait CD
There has never been a clearer attempt to shed an audience than Self-Portrait. At least, that's one way of looking at this baffling double album, a deliberately sprawling affair that runs the gamut from self-portrait to self-parody, touching on operatic pop, rowdy Basement Tapes leftovers, slight whimsy, and covers of wannabe Dylans from Paul Simon to Gordon Lightfoot. To say the least, it's confusing, especially arriving at the end of a decade of unmitigated brilliance, and while the years have made it easier to listen to, it still remains inscrutable, an impossible record to unlock. It may not be worth the effort, either, since this isn't a matter of deciphering cryptic lyrics or interpreting lyrics, it's all about discerning intent, figuring out what the hell Dylan was thinking when he was recording -- not trying to decode a song. Budget reissue.

Robin Trower- Twice Removed From Yesterday/Bridge Of Sighs CD
Former Procul Harem Guitarist's first two solo albums where he blazes through some of the greatest Hendrix inspired psychedelic rock of the decade. Excellent!

    Humble Pie- Eat It CD
Although the quality of the material is a bit uneven, the double album Eat It is the last Humble Pie record to capture the rough and tumble spirit of their heyday. Killer versions of Ike & Tina Turner's "Black Coffee" & Ray Charles' "I Believe To My Soul". Steve Marriott never sounded better.

Melvins/Lustmord- Pigs Of The Roman Empire CD
Finally back in stock. Melvins combine forces with dark electronics wiz Lustmord.

Ry Cooder- Down At The Field CD
Magnificent 1974 RY COODER performances captured on these rare radio broadcasts! Tracks 1-11 are culled from Ebbetts Field, Denver, 20th May, 1974. (KCUV FM102.3 broadcast) and tracks 12-15 are from the Bottom Line, New York, 16th May, 1974 (WNYU FM broadcast).

Dinosaur Jr- You're Living All Over Me CD+LP
    In stock on both formats.

Devendra Banhart- Rejoicing In The Hands LPx2
    Devendra's second album from 2004.

    Black Flag- Loose Nut LP
    Back in stock.

Moody Blues- Days Of Future Passed LP
In stock for the first time in ages. UK pressing.

    The Monkees- Headquarters LP
After the release of More of the Monkees, on which the band had little involvement beyond providing vocals and a couple Mike Nesmith-composed songs, the pre-fab four decided to take control of their recording destiny. After a well-timed fist through the wall of a hotel suite and many fevered negotiations, music supervisor Don Kirschner was out and the band hit the studio by themselves. With the help of producer Chip Douglas, the band spent some time learning how to be a band (as documented on the Headquarters Sessions box set) and set about recording what turned out to be a dynamic, exciting, and impressive album. Headquarters doesn't contain any of the group's biggest hits, but it does have some of their best songs, like Nesmith's stirring folk-rocker "You Just May Be the One," the pummeling rocker "No Time," the MOR soul ballad "Forget That Girl," which features one of Davy Jones' best vocals, Peter Tork's shining moment as a songwriter, "For Pete's Sake," and the thoroughly amazing (and surprisingly political) "Randy Scouse Git," which showed just how truly out-there and almost avant-garde Micky Dolenz could be when he tried. Even the weaker songs like the sweet-as-sugar "I'll Spend My Life with You," the slightly sappy "Shades of Gray," or the stereotypically showtune-y Davy Jones vehicle "I Can't Get Her Off My Mind" work, as they benefit from the stripped-down and inventive arrangements (which feature simple but effective keyboards from Tork and rudimentary pedal steel fills from Nesmith) and passionate performances. Headquarters doesn't show the band to be musical geniuses, but it did prove they were legitimate musicians with enough brains, heart, and soul as anyone else claiming to be a real band in 1967.

The Monkees- Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. LP
After wresting control of the Monkees from Don Kirschner and recording the very good Headquarters album as a mostly self-contained unit, the bandmembers returned to using studio musicians to augment their sound as well as looking outside the group for the majority of the songs on their fourth album, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. Whatever the reason for the decision, the resulting album is one of their best. Filled with hooky pop like "She Hangs Out" and the Harry Nilsson-penned "Cuddly Toy," psychedelic ravers "Daily Nightly" and "Star Collector" (both of which feature the newly invented Moog synthesizer), Mike Nesmith-produced rockers ("Love Is Only Sleeping"), and ballads (the lovely "Don't Call on Me"), the album is filler-free and fun-filled. That it contains three of their finest songs ("Words," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," and the song that "invented" country-rock for better or for worse, "What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round?") means that not only is it one of the Monkees' best, it is one of 1967's best. To think that both this album and Headquarters came out the same year! Most bands would be lucky to have two albums this good come out their entire career. Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. is a must-have for any fan of smart, fun, and exciting '60s pop. It doesn't get much better than this.

    M.Ward- A Wasteland Companion CD
In the three years since Portland, OR-based troubadour M. WARD released his last solo album - the universally lauded 'Hold Time' - he's toured the globe, released two albums as one half of Grammy-nominated duo SHE & HIM as well as one with the talented group of friends collectively know as MONSTERS OF FOLK. Inspired by his increasingly itinerant lifestyle, Ward set forth to create something of a musical travelogue on the highly anticipated sixth solo album, 'A Wasteland Companion'. Ward's honey-soaked vocals, deft finger-picking, innate sense of melody and beguiling lyrics have already cemented his reputation as one of America's true musical treasures and 'A Wasteland Companion' features some of the finest songwriting and most striking delivery of his career. The album also features the talents of Giant Sand's Howe Gelb, John Parish, Bright Eyes' Mike Mogis, Zooey Deschanel, and Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley, to name a few. Vinyl arriving next week.
