    New Stock For The Week.
    Monday, January 21 2013 @ 10:26 CST
    Contributed by: Dave

Here's the first look at what's coming on Wednesday. It's a big order this week, so I'll be adding more soon.

    Iron Maiden- Powerslave LP
Latest pic disc reissue in picture sleeve.

Iron Maiden- Live After Death LPx2
Latest double pic disc reissue in picture sleeve.

    Sharon Van Etten- Tramp LP
    Back in stock on vinyl.

    New Order- Lost Sirens LP
This isn't a new New Order album, exactly. During the long, expensive sessions that produced 2005's Waiting for the Sirens' Call, New Order recorded a small pile of extra material, the idea being that they'd get a few more songs down after the subsequent tour and call it another album. But they stopped playing together after 2006, then bassist Peter Hook left the band acrimoniously, and the two camps spent a few years bickering at one another. However, since the return of keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, they've been touring again as, effectively, an oldies act-- minus Hook. (Their set lists last year featured, typically, all of two post-1993 songs, and encores from the Joy Division catalogue.) Now, following extended tussles over mixes and copyright, they're finally releasing the leftovers from their final sessions with Hook: six previously unheard songs, plus one remixed Sirens' Call track and the awesome "Hellbent", which appeared on the 2011 Joy Division/New Order singles cash-in, Total. Eight songs in a bit under 40 minutes; that's an EP by 2013 standards, but it's longer than either Movement or Brotherhood.

Brokeback- Brokeback & The Black Rock CD+LP
After a decade, Brokeback break their silence. Led by Tortoise's Douglas McCombs, the Brokeback family expands on Black Rock. Once a solo project for McCombs, he decided to pull in Noel Kupersmith for 2003's Look at the Bird. This time around, McCombs has something of a full-fledged band, after bringing in three musicians (Pete Croke, James Elkington, Chris Hansen) to create this new eight-track record. It's almost as if McCombs wanted a clean slate to work from — a new backdrop to create something different — and if that's true he's succeeded, to some degree, at least. "Don't Worry Pigeon" and "The Wire, The Rag, and The Payoff" represent two of the warmer tracks you'll find in their catalogue. But that isn't saying too much considering Brokeback's past of gloomy, dark instrumentals. While warm in comparison, Black Rock is still filled with McCombs' spacious, isolating tracks ("Tonight at Ten," "Gold!"), which are best for lonely winter evenings.

    Mountains- Centralia CD+LP
Ears still virgin to the inspiring neo-psychedelia of Mountains will find a perfect place to begin exploring their discography with Centralia. While so much ambient- and drone-based experimental music is essentially meaningless, forgettable work that roughly replicates the same sonic recipe popularized by Brian Eno in the '70s, the distinctive melodies and forward-thinking-yet-beautiful experimentalism heard in Mountains' music put them in a league of their own. On Centralia, Mountains blend the emotive organic textures of 2009's Choral with the synthesized elements of 2011's Air Museum, creating a cohesive album that encompasses all things Mountains. Centralia's two lengthy cuts, derived from live recordings ("Propeller" and "Liana"), are otherworldly journeys that remove the listener from thoughts about the past and future, placing them peacefully in the present, and the present only. While the album is a drone-based record, Mountains never stagnate, unafraid of abrasive movement, and their sometimes intense palette never feels out of place or unpleasant.

Young Widows- In And Out Of Youth And Lightness LPx2
Young Widows has never been a party band. Unlike their fantastic Louisville contemporaries in Coliseum, Lords and the short-lived Pusher, their music is not meant to get people pumping their fists and crushing beer cans into their heads. They have always been a band of high intensity, but Young Widows prefer the type of intensity that leaves anticipation in the open spaces, always drawing comparisons to '90s indie bands like Shellac and the Jesus Lizard for their angular, grim-faced aggression. This is their brand new album on double LP.

    Yo La Tengo- Fade CD+LP+7"
Brand new album from one of the yeoman indie bands. It comes in a regular edition LP as well as a limited version that's numbered, and includes a bonus 7" single. CD in stock as well.

    RSD release from last fall.

NOFX- Xmas Has Been X'ed 7"
Look out, St. Nick! NOFX have got a big old lump of coal to dump in your stocking. In the holiday spirit, everyone’s favorite punk rock pranksters decided to take aim at two of our most beloved celebrations with their new 7" Xmas Has Been X’ed /New Year’s Revolution. Because NOFX didn’t want to play favorites between berating Xmas and New Years, they made the 7" a double A-side, giving both title tracks a shared billing and their own full artwork. 'Xmas Has Been X’ed' appeared on NOFX’s most recent album, Self Entitled, while 'New Year’s Revolution' was recorded specifically for this 7". The band also threw in a little bonus by adding a recently rerecorded and refreshed version of the rarity "Wore Out the Soles of My Party Boots". All three tracks show the whip-smart sense of humor NOFX are known for and are paired with their signature speedy melodic instrumentation. Limited to 5,000 copies.

Propagandhi- How To Clean A Couple Of Things 7"
Early 7" single back in stock.

    Nick Drake- Pink Moon CD
    New European reissue in digipak.

Her most personal & acoustic album from a few years back. One of her 2 best albums.

    Bad Religion- True North CD+LP
Brand new release back in stock on both formats. Vinyl contains bonus CD.

    Freddie Hubbard- Straight Life CD
Back in stock. A classic jazz album in every regard. Recommended.

    Radio Moscow- Brain Cycles CD
"Brain Cycles" is Radio Moscow's second album, a new psychedelic trip into the musical territory originally charted by artists such as Randy Holden, Groundhogs, Peter Green and Flower Travellin' Band, just to name a few. Hailing from Ames, Iowa, an unlikely rock n'roll town if there was one, and formed in 2006 by guitar prodigy Parker Griggs, Radio Moscow released their self-titled debut in 2007, with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys handling the production. On "Brain Cycles", Parker Griggs once again plays all the instruments (guitar, drums, and percussion) and assumes vocal duties as well as production credits, while the bass guitar is in the hands of young Zach Anderson. Conceived as an homage to the thrilling days of yesteryear, when vinyl was king and analog stereo ruled the world, the album is a guilty pleasure best experienced at maximum volume while wearing headphones, if you want your brain to catch the waves!

Radio Moscow- The Great Escape Of Leslie Magnafuzz CD
RADIO MOSCOW's popularity is growing rapidly, as more and more fans tune in to their unique brand of American psychedelic blues rock. Radio Moscow's music is rooted in the power trio sound of the late 60s and early 70s, and they have been compared to Blue Cheer, Hendrix, Cream, Ten Years After, and similar bands from the golden age of rock’n’roll. This, their third album, is their most psychedelic and powerful work to date. In order to achieve the true natural sound they were looking for, the band used vintage Supro, Gibson, and Alamo amps, as well as other off-beat gems, while Parker Griggs sometimes ran his vocals through a tape echo, a Leslie cabinet or an old Gibson reverb tank. 'The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz' is an amazing album that updates an old-school style with craft, passion and plenty of psychedelics.

Lazy Cowgirls- A Little Sex & Death CD
From 1997. Terrific garage rock from California by way of Indiana. This is their 6th album. For fans of Social Distortion, Supersuckers etc.

    Butthole Surfers- Rembrandt Pussyhorse CD
Restock CD from one of the most strangest bands of all time. Others are in stock as well.

Joe Bonamassa- Driving Towards The Daylight CD
    His most recent solo album.

Belle & Sebastian- Dear Catastrophe Waitress CD
After the near-disaster of forced democracy on Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant and the stultifying holding pattern of the Storytelling soundtrack, where Todd Solondz brought out their worst tendencies, it seemed that Belle & Sebastian were disappearing into their own preciousness, but then something unexpected happened: they returned to form with 2003's Dear Catastrophe Waitress. This was unexpected not just because their last efforts suggested that B&S no longer could produce a consistently engaging work, but because their savior came in the guise of Trevor Horn, the man who successfully helped Yes turn new wave, the man best known for his synth-heavy productions of ABC and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the man who was last heard producing everybody's favorite Russian teen lesbian duo, Tatu. That diverse resumé suggests that Horn knows how to play to a band's strengths, and he certainly helps Belle & Sebastian regain their focus and vision, turning Dear Catastrophe Waitress into one of the group's best albums. One of the reasons that album works so well is that the notion that the band has no leader has been discarded, with Stuart Murdoch thankfully serving as the lead singer and songwriter throughout the record. Murdoch's songs are firmly within the patented Belle & Sebastian style, and while it may be true that he's not stretching himself much as a writer, that doesn't matter because he sounds assured and confident, turning out a set of songs that are finely crafted and tuneful. It's among his catchiest work, if not quite his cleverest, since the words occasionally offer an overdose of whimsy that leads to queasiness. And that's where Horn comes in -- by keeping the focus on the tunes and subtly varying the production, he's made Dear Catastrophe Waitress the richest musical offering yet from Belle & Sebastian.

    Swans- Filth/Body To Body CDx2
Two albums paired together. This is their very first album & a collection of rare tracks in one double CD package. If you're a recent convert, than see where it all began.

    Guitar Wolf- Red Idol DVD
One of Japan's coolest punk garage bands. Fans of Guitar Wolf will love this, lots of live stuff as well as videos(it even has a trailer for the movie Wild Zero).

Neil Young- Live In San Francisco LPx2
Back in stock on double LP. Pressed in Europe.

Neil Young- Live In Chicago 1992 LPx2
20 track live perfromance from the legend. Approximately 112 minutes. Includes tracks like "Tonight's The Night", "Like A Hurricane", "Powderfinger", "Long May Your Run", "Mr. Soul", etc.

    DaM-Funk- Toeachizown Vol.1 LP
Two years ago now, Dam-Funk released his debut album, "Toeachizown", an epic of modern funk, containing over two hours of music in five separately-titled parts. The vinyl release originally came out in a 5LP boxed set. These boxed set versions are long gone and out of print now, but we finally have the five records available again as separate discs. From D-F: "LAtrik is more of my ‘electric style’ (hence the title of this volume) which is influenced by, yet never bitin’ such great artist as Juan Atkins (Cybotron) & Prince to name just a few. It also highlights the more modern sounds of L.A. based Funk right now with instrumentals like ‘Toeachizown’ & vocal tracks like ‘Mirrors’ which, I feel are distinctly my sound, humbly speaking. I hope U dig it, as this was made 4 U!" - D-F.

    DaM-Funk- Toeachizown Vol.2 LP
Two years ago now, Dam-Funk released his debut album, "Toeachizown", an epic of modern funk, containing over two hours of music in five separately-titled parts. The vinyl release originally came out in a 5LP boxed set. These boxed set versions are long gone and out of print now, but we finally have the five records available again as separate discs. From D-F: "The first 3 tracks Flying V Ride (which is a reference 2 the fabled UFO that many have reported seeing in their lifetime), Candy Dancin’ & Burn Straight Thru U co-exist as a ‘suite’ called ‘The Move Suite’. Yes, 3 songs that are joined together as 1. Candy Dancin’ also features a wicked synth solo & vocoder contribution by the 1 and only Mark de Clive-Lowe".

    DaM-Funk- Toeachizown Vol.3 LP
Two years ago now, Dam-Funk released his debut album, "Toeachizown", an epic of modern funk, containing over two hours of music in five separately-titled parts. The vinyl release originally came out in a 5LP boxed set. These boxed set versions are long gone and out of print now, but we finally have the five records available again as separate discs. From D-F: "This particular part of my debut; Toeachizown is Vol. 3 & it’s called Life because these songs focus on relationships; good ones & weird ones (if U will). These songs also include vocals on all the tracks. The one I’m most proud of in this juncture of the album is "I Wanna Thank U (4 Steppin’ Into My Life)" as it’s dedicated 2 someone very special 2 me who came into my life at the right time and without judgement. It’s a full song. Hook, verses, bridge and ready for radio play. I just wanted 2 show that I can actually create a full song (if and when I choose 2), and not only way out there beats & such".

    DaM-Funk- Toeachizown Vol.4 LP
Two years ago now, Dam-Funk released his debut album, "Toeachizown", an epic of modern funk, containing over two hours of music in five separately-titled parts. The vinyl release originally came out in a 5LP boxed set. These boxed set versions are long gone and out of print now, but we finally have the five records available again as separate discs. From D-F: "All in all, this 4th volume subtitled: ‘Hood’ is for my true Funksta’s, G-Funksta’s, Gangsta’s (keep it mild-mannered though y’all!), & just ALL genuine appreciators of this ‘Modern-Funk’ music coming outta Los Angeles, California at this moment".

    DaM-Funk- Toeachizown Vol.5 LP
Two years ago now, Dam-Funk released his debut album, "Toeachizown", an epic of modern funk, containing over two hours of music in five separately-titled parts. The vinyl release originally came out in a 5LP boxed set. These boxed set versions are long gone and out of print now, but we finally have the five records available again as separate discs. From DF: ‘Sky’ is the final chapter of my 5-part presentation of Toeachizown. I chose to round out the set on a totally positive vibe & level of sound with these songs. Joints like "The Sky Is Ours" I feel captures positive & uplifting vibes while still remaining based in the ‘Funk’ yet, with new types of chords & arrangements being experimented with + vocals throughout this particular song."

    Beatles- Abby Road LP
    Back in stock.

    Iron Maiden- Powerslave LP
    Latest reissue on pic disc.

    Love- S/T LP
1966. Love's debut is both their hardest-rocking early album and their most Byrds-influenced. Arthur Lee's songwriting muse hadn't fully developed at this stage, and in comparison with their second and third efforts, this is the least striking of the LPs featuring their classic lineup, with some similar-sounding folk-rock compositions and stock riffs. A few of the tracks are great, though: their punky rendition of Bacharach/David's "My Little Red Book" was a minor hit, "Signed D.C." and "Mushroom Clouds" were superbly moody ballads, and Bryan Maclean's "Softly to Me" served notice that Lee wasn't the only songwriter of note in the band.

    Ty Segall- Melted LP
Someone must have dropped some acid into Ty Segall's lo-fi garage rock beverage, since his third solo effort, Melted, sounds noticeably noisier, trippier, and more damaged than his previous efforts. Segall's feel for a simple, sturdy melody hasn't escaped him, but the tunes often drift in and out of clouds of sound effects, percussive jams, guitar feedback, or keyboard drones, and a warm layer of pushed-to-the-red distortion surrounds most of the drums and instrumental tracks. The result isn't quite face-melting, but it certainly hits harder and with more lysergic force than Segall's first two post-Epsilons efforts, though that's not to say the man has lost touch with his sense of dynamics; "Bees" is a midtempo number that generates a quiet intensity around Segall's slurred vocal, and "Caesar" is an engagingly hooky pop song delivered with a commendable swagger. But righteous freak-outs like "Girlfriend," "My Sunshine," and "Mike D.'s Coke" set the tone for this album, and for the most part, this messed-up world view seems to suit him and his music quite nicely. The psychedelic touches give the noisy aspects of Segall's music greater weight and purpose, and the sonic manipulation helps sculpt the melodies in fresh and compelling ways. It's not as if any of this breaks new stylistic ground (in fact, it bears no small resemblance to his pals and sometimes collaborators Thee Oh Sees), but it sure sounds like Segall is having fun, and it brings some additional heat and spice to his rich brew of sound. Tune in, turn on, and get Melted -- you'll enjoy it . (Allmusic)

Breandan Kelly & The Wandering Birds- I'd Rather Die....LP
Brendan Kelly is a blogger, father, TV host, and frontman of THE LAWRENCE ARMS; and this newest rock band was formed in the spirit of other artist collectives like Wu-Tang Clan and Crass. The ambitious 12-song debut is a brave collaboration of friends (musicians, graphic artists, studio nerds, and even a college film professor) and it offers diverse songs and ample instrumentation to set this album apart from the typical punker-goes-acoustic project. The Wandering Birds employ distorted guitars, vibraphone, lap steel, drum loops, piano, and more to deliver a true departure - both musically and thematically - on this dynamic record.

Muddy Waters- Can't Get No Grindin' LP
Muddy's next-to-last Chess album, Can't Get No Grindin' (1973) marked a return to working with a band of his own after several experimental line-ups and recordings -- Pinetop Perkins took over the piano spot from the late Otis Spann, with Chess veteran harpist James Cotton aboard, and PeeWee Madison, and Sammy Lawhorn handling the guitars (apart from Muddy's axe, natch). The music is raw, hard-edged, and sharp (the guitars slash and cut), more like a successor to Muddy's classic 1950's sides (he rethinks a bunch '50s numbers here) than to the London Sessions, Super Blues, brass blow-outs, and psychedelic albums that he'd been doing. It's also easy to hear Muddy's heart in this release -- he fairly oozes soul out of every note he sings. The title track, \"Sad Letter,\" and \"Mother's Bad Luck Child\" are all killer tracks, and most of the rest isn't far behind, though \"Garbage Man\" is the best known of the newer tracks, thanks to subsequent covers.

Toro Y Moi- Anything In Return LP
Anything in Return can appear like it has Big Third Album things to prove, ambitious in easily understood ways: it's the longest Toro Y Moi album and the loudest as well. It just manages to do those things on Bundick's self-effacing, generous terms. Which shouldn't obscure Anything In Return's accomplishment of being another strong, forward-thinking record from an artist whose grasp never seems to exceed his reach.

Charles Bradley- No Time For Dreaming LP
One of the great modern soul albums of 2011. This has been hard to get for about 6 months now, but here it is, back again!

Alisdair Roberts & Friends- A Wonder Working Stone LPx2
This is Alasdair’s most ambitious, fully-realized work to date. A Wonder Working Stone continues Alasdair’s long-standing love affair and deeply creative interaction with the traditional music of has native Scotland (and beyond), offering an idiosyncratic and nuanced radicalization of that tradition. Indeed, he questions the very notion of ‘tradition’ in the modern age, with songs addressing topics such as mortality (as ever), life, love, sex, faith and history. The arrangements of A Wonder Working Stone are dense with the music of friends, realizing the lifeblood of community, and throughout the album, they are presented with raucously cinematic flair. In the middle of it all, Roberts delivers his unique ‘scordatura’ finger style guitar and distinctive tenor vocals with the backing of a core group of among Glasgow’s finest musicians; Ben Reynolds (electric guitar), Shane Connolly (drums), Rafe Fitzpatrick (fiddle, rap), Stevie Jones (bass) and with special guest vocals from Olivia Chaney, as well as appearances from many other fine players on strings, brass, flute and accordion.

    Lee Fields- My World LP
Lee Fields is a bona-fide, 100%, unadulterated, pure, gut-bucket soul singer. While the crate-digging funk and soul community bestowed "legendary" status upon him due to his undeniably solid series of rare 7" singles (and one LP) recorded and released on his own independent labels in the 70s, he's never been one to sit in a dusty corner. New York label/production team Truth & Soul are ready to bring him to light with a brand new album of beat-heavy, deep soul ballads that will show soul-revivalists the world over what real soul is. Most recently, Fields has featured on a number of tracks by French house producer, Martin Solveig as well as Sharon Jones' album 'Naturally'. On 'My World', Fields is backed by a the group of New York studio musicians that have provided the back drop for records by The Dap Kings, Amy Winehouse, Bronx River Parkway, El Michels Affair and TV on The Radio. The album goes beyond just a carbon copy of a sweet soul music from the 60's and early 70's. The formula has remained the same but the style has been adapted for the ears of youngsters whose experiences with soul began with Amy, not Al, Otis and Marvin. An album of beautiful soul music with one of the progenitors who made it all possible.

Lee Fields- My World Instrumentals LP
New York label/ production team Truth & Soul helped throw him a reintroduction party with the release of 'My World' in 2009, an album chock full of beat-heavy, deep soul ballads. On the instrumental version of 'My World', the Expressions get their chance to shine on tracks textured with lush strings and funky horns, backed by a hard-hitting rhythm section. This instrumental set is the perfect companion piece to the original album.

    Lee Fields- Problems LP
Vinyl reissue of LEE FIELDS' 2002 album 'Problems.'. The sonic palette of this record reaches far and wide, ranging from rampaging psychedelic funk to softer introspective sounds. Long out of print and highly coveted, Truth & Soul are happy to release the LP in a heavy paste-on jacket.

Lee Fields- Faithful Man Instrumentals LP
Since the late sixties Lee Fields has amassed a prolific catalog and has played and toured with such legends as Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, O.V Wright, and many more. With a career spanning 43 years, it’s mind-blowing that the music he’s making today with Brooklyn’s Truth & Soul Records is the best of his career. While drawing comparisons to The Moments, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, and - of course - James Brown, "Faithful Man" is able to create a space of it’s own due to the group’s desire to interpret and further the formulas of good soul music rather then imitate them. Chalk that up to Truth & Soul producers and co-owners Jeff Silverman and Leon Michels. These are the same individuals that co-wrote, produced, and played on Aloe Blacc’s global smash "I Need A Dollar", and have provided the back drop for records by Adele, Ghostface Killah, and Jay-Z to name a few. The music that they create in their Brooklyn studio has such a special and soulful flavor that "Faithful Man" stands on it’s own, even without the vocals of Lee Fields. As such, this companion piece to Lee Fields "Faithful Man", "Faithful Man Instrumentals" is certain to hit your ears with a sound that takes you back in time....back to when records were practically magic. That magic still exists, at least in a studio in Brooklyn where the soul sounds as good, as real, as pure and as analog as it ever did.

    Aloe Blacc- Good things LPx2
    Back on double vinyl.

Drive By Truckers- Third Man Live LP
Recorded live for Jack White's Third Man Record label.

    Julia Holter- Ekstasis LPx2+CD
Magic exists, and we know it does – because if it didn’t, how could Julia Holter’s second release bewitch so thoroughly, right from the onset? A classically trained virtuoso from Los Angeles and friend of fellow pop sorceress Nite Jewel, she weaves ambience and pop music together on tracks such as ‘Our Sorrows’ and ‘Moni Mon Amie’ to cast dreamlike enchantments.
In a buzzing world in which tranquility can often seem unattainable, Holter’s hymn-like offerings, powered by harpsichord and harmonium, demand more than mere background listening. Forget chart positions or blog hype: ‘Ekstasis’ reminds us that music can mean so much more. (NME)

    Deep Purple- Perfect Strangers LP
Featuring dead-quiet surfaces, this Wax Cathedral LP is pressed at RTI, America’s best record plant. All the hallmark traits from Deep Purple’s golden era (1970-1973) are on display throughout this platinum comeback affair, which has aged much better than most mid-80s efforts in terms of sound, performance, and content. At times mystical, aggressive, and dramatic, Perfect Strangers leaves a lasting impression courtesy of Ian Gillan’s leather-lunged vocal range, Roger Glover’s self-assured bass lines, Ian Paice’s titanium-tough drumming, and the trade-off soloing between the wizardlike, vibrato-emboldened guitar playing of Ritchie Blackmore and voodoo-casting organ spells of Jon Lord.

Sharon Van Etten- Because I Was In Love LP
Intimacy reigns supreme on Sharon Van Etten’s debut, which finds the folksinger crooning her melodies over beds of acoustic guitar, keyboard, and overdubbed harmonies. Her lyrics are the stuff of heartbreak and uncertainty -- “I wish I knew what to do with you” she laments during the first track, and later refers to herself as a lover’s “consolation prize” -- but her performances are confident, both simple in their delivery and subtle in their emotional punch. Because I Was in Love isn’t a bare-boned folk album; rather, it’s the sort of record that unfolds its layers with repeated listens, and the arrangements are often gorgeously lush without threatening to overpower Van Etten’s alto. Local Natives- Hummingbird LP (regular version)
Regular edition. Much has happened between the band's critically-acclaimed, Best New Music debut album, Gorilla Manor, and the imminent release of Hummingbird. From rave reviews to brilliant television performances, Gorilla Manor launched the band onto the global stage, saw them headlining theaters throughout America and Europe, opening for bands like Arcade Fire and The National, winning them lauded slots at major festivals around the world, and selling over 100,000 albums in the U.S. alone. Upon their return home from the road, the band built out a rehearsal space/studio in an abandoned bungalow in Silverlake, allowing them to try writing in different ways, and freeing them up to work extensively on tones and arrangements. This ultimately led to their experimenting with new instruments and sounds, bringing a broader musical palette to the table, and challenging them to grow from the comfort space of their established aesthetic.

Less Than Jake- Greetings & Salutations LP
Vinyl version includes download code. As the currently reigning champs of the ska/punk genre LESS THAN JAKE have amassed legions of faithful followers over the years. With their 20th anniversary falling during 2012 the band decided to commemorate this notable milestone by creating a yearlong event, which saw the band travel far and wide to bring their wacky, high-flying live show to their droves fans. With so much touring planned LESS THAN JAKE really wanted to make the celebration something special, so they recorded not one, but two different tour eps. Greetings From Less Than Jake and Seasons Greetings From Less Than Jake were both 5 song eps the band manufactured on their own and sold on cd, exclusively at the shows they played over the course of 2012. With the two eps comprising some of the strongest material they had written in years and given the limited nature of their availability it seemed like combining the two tour eps into one album was in order. So, LTJ assembled the two EP’s, added 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks, and re-sequenced everything into one cohesive record, Greetings and Salutations. The final product stands alone as one of the best albums in the LESS THAN JAKE catalog. Of course, previously to this the songs were not available on lp, in stores, or on the web, so there are plenty of LTJ fanatics that haven’t had a crack at hearing these songs, or had a chance to own them on vinyl. The official release of the Greetings and Salutations full-length is the perfect way to wrap up the LESS THAN JAKE 20 year blowout.
