This 8 track LP comes with new gatefold artwork, new track sequence, and features the stellar lineup of Scott Hill (guitar, vocals), Brant Bjork (drums), Brad Davis (bass) and Bob Balch (guitar). Eighth track is a Blue Oyster Cult cover.
Witchsorrow- S/T CD
2010. The debut album from WITCHSORROW. Since their first live appearance with Blood Island Raiders in December 2006, this UK based band has gone from strength to strength, gaining a devoted following in the process. This is Doom Metal in its purest form. Devoid of the tiring trends associated with the genre and opting to return their roots, Witchsorrow are unashamedly Heavy Metal in their approach. Inspired by the second wave of post 70s Doom bands such as Trouble, Saint Vitus, Candlemass and more recently, Reverend Bizarre, Witchsorrow make no apologies for not being trendy or cool. This is heavy music that is heartfelt and genuine and made by people who understand the true essence of Doom Metal.

Skyharbor- Blinding White Noise: Illision & Chaos CDx2
Starting out as a simple bedroom studio project, guitarist Keshav Dhar has seen Skyharbor quickly evolve into one of India's hottest metal prospects, with huge admiration coming in from some of the biggest names in metal worldwide. An astonishing amount of buzz surround in the bands first ever performance at the Bacardi NH7 festival in Pune, India earlier this year, where they played to over 1,000 people and were one of the weekend's highlights. The long awaited debut album from Skyharbor promises to be a landmark release for the Indian independent music scene, in no small part thanks to the incredible number of international guest appearances it will see, including the likes of Marty Fiedman (Ex Megadeth), Daniel Tompkins (Tesseract), Vishal J. Singh (Amogh Symphony) and Sunnieth Revankar (Bhayank Muat).
Miles Davis- You're Under Arrest CD
1985 pop (sort of) crossover attempt by Miles. Features his soulful & popular remake of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time".
Shaver- Tramp On Your Street CD
Great country rock album by Billy Joe Shaver & his band led by son Eddie Shaver on guitar. Guests include Waylon Jennings & Brother Phelps. Good stuff!
Cory Brannan- Mutt CD
Cory Branan is a natural-born storyteller. As with any of his musical and literary pedestal sitters, from John Prine and Leonard Cohen to Raymond Carver and Gabriel García Márquez, his seemingly conversational, painstakingly crafted anecdotes benefit from a hard-eyed stare at hydra-headed experience. 'MUTT', Branan's Bloodshot debut, also bears the marks of his "American gumbo" heritage: a winding path from nascent guitar shredder in the small, state-line town of Southaven, Mississippi, to fledgling troubadour in Memphis' lauded underground music scene, and now a Nashville-based itinerant road warrior thrilling Thunderdomes as varied as Warp's Country Throwdown and Chuck Ragan's Revival Tour. While his music tips its hat to roadmap influences from Motown to Mellencamp, the Delta bluesmen to folk pickers of 60s Greenwich Village, the united result is a singular sound spurred on by years spent on tour honing something rare that is altogether its own.
Lonnie Donegan- Original Hits Of The Skiffle Explosion CDx3
Budget collection from Lonnie Donegan, the king of Skiffle. Skiffle is a type of popular music with jazz, blues, folk, and roots influences, usually using homemade or improvised instruments. Originating as a term in the United States in the first half of the twentieth century, it became popular again in the UK in the 1950s, where it was mainly associated with musician Lonnie Donegan and played a major part in beginning the careers of later eminent jazz, pop, blues, folk and rock musicians. The Beatles actually started as a skiffle band.
Hank Williams Jr.- Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound CD
One of Hank Jr's great albums from the early 80's. The song O.D'd in Denver is one of his best. Hank Jr. wrote some great songs in his early days, and this is well before he started to become an idiot.
Junior Wells & Buddy Guy- Hoodoo Man Blues CD+LP
Classic 60's Chicago blues from 2 of the masters.
Brian Eno- Here Come The Warm Jets CD
Eno's first solo album after leaving Roxy Music. Contains "Baby's On Fire", one of his most popular songs which features an incredibly firey guitar solo from Robert Fripp (King Crimson).
Brian Eno- Ambient 1: Music For Airports CD
This complex sound sculpture was created by Brian Eno in 1978 and was even installed for a while at the Marine Terminal of New York at LaGuardia Airport. The ambient-minimalist soundscape has been alternately described as background Muzak, a profoundly artificial musical milieu, and a groundbreaking studio creation. Eno designed Music for Airports from a few simple notes and the serial organization of variable tape loops that didn't quite match up. It's a groundbreaking elaboration on the aural/spatial dimension that utilizes silence, piano, synthesizer, female voices, and, most importantly, the technology of the studio. A true metaclassic, the "music" is divided into four distinct movements. This record is the first of Eno's ambient series and is undoubtedly the best.
Alejandro Escovedo- Big Station CD
2012 album from the acclaimed Texas singer, songwriter and blues rocker. On the follow-up to 2010's Street Songs of Love, which debuted at the top of Billboard's Heatseekers chart, Escovedo worked with frequent co-writer Chuck Prophet and producer Tony Visconti. The 12-track record references themes of love and belonging, as well as homes and homelands. 'Bottom of the World' name-checks Austin (where he currently resides), 'Sally Was a Cop' details the political corruption of Mexico, and the closing song 'Sabor a Mi,; written by the late Mexican composer Alvaro Carrillo in 1959, pays homage to the man and their shared roots. Vinyl coming next week.
Guided By Voices- Class Clown Spots A UFO CD
The new GUIDED BY VOICES album is the best thing the band has recorded since the last album by the legendary Dayton, Ohio, rockers. That's not meant facetiously: the last thing Guided By Voices did was the rapturously received 'Let's Go Eat The Factory', and 'Class Clown Spots A UFO' ups the ante raised by that stellar effort, both in terms of recording fidelity (boring!) and songcraft (not boring!) One could argue there's more depth and variety here than on 'Alien Lanes', that there are better songs here than on 'Bee Thousand', but that's an argument no one's ever going to win, at least definitively. And this album is a win, by any definition. The sequencing of 'Class Clown' hearkens back to their landmark LP 'Alien Lanes'; songs bleed into each other, fade-outs segue into fade-ins, and short bursts of melodic rock jut against somber chamber pop. And we might as well tell you the band is about to finish their third record since reuniting, because you'll find out sooner or later. 'Bears For Lunch' is due in late November. But for now, enjoy the best thing since the last thing and until the next thing after that.
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros- Here CD+LP
Brand new album. Apparently this is a little more subdued than the uber popular "Up From Here".
Humble Pie- S/T CD
Recorded in 1970, this is ground zero for soulful hard rock, with elements of country and blues. Highly recommended.
Slash- Apocalyptic Love LPx2
Brand new album from Slash with his buddy Myles Kennedy. Double LP in gatefold sleeve.
Otis Redding- Dock Of The Bay LP
Restock on vinyl.
T.Rex- Electric Warrior LPx2
UK 2xLP reissue of the 1971 album that kick-started the glam-rock movement! Includes the classics "Jeepster", "Cosmic Dancer", "Mambo Sun", and "Bang A Gong (Get It On)". One of the truly classic albums of rock 'n' roll!
Kelly Hogan- I Like To Keep Myself In Pain LP
On her debut album for ANTI-, “singer’s singer” Kelly Hogan takes her vast experience working with Neko Case, Andrew Bird, Mavis Staples, Drive-By Truckers, The Mekons, and so many others, and molds that into something both new and instantly classic. I Like to Keep Myself In Pain finds Hogan curating an ambitious collection of songs, many written specifically for her, from a who’s who of indie songwriters, including M. Ward, Vic Chesnutt, The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt, The Mekons' Jon Langford, The Handsome Family, Freakwater's Catherine Irwin, John Wesley Harding, Robbie Fulks, Gabriel Roth, Robyn Hitchcock, and the aforementioned Andrew Bird. She is backed on the album by an all-star group of musicians: R&B legends Booker T Jones and James Gadson (Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Beck), as well as talented young lions Gabriel Roth (of Daptone Records, The Dap-Kings) and Hogan's long-time collaborator Scott Ligon (of the newly resurrected NRBQ). The result is an album that captures the country-soul elegance of albums like Dusty In Memphis while updating the sound with a modern literary sensibility.

Roy Orbison- Sings Lonely & Blue LP
180 gram vinyl edition, with bonus CD. Originally released in 1960, this album marked ROY ORBISON's first taste of superstardom. After experiencing only marginal success with Sun Records and RCA, Orbison moved over to Fred Foster's fledgling Monument Records in 1959, and that's when the big hits started rolling in. In 1960 alone, Orbison had two Top Ten hits with "Only The Lonely" and "Blue Angel" (both found on this LP). Also includes four bonus tracks!
Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee- Preachin' The Blues LP
Guitarist and singer Walter Brown “Brownie” McGhee (1915–1996) was a leading proponent of Piedmont-style blues, a guitar style based on ragtime piano rhythms and associated with the Piedmont region of the Southeast United States. Saunders Terrell (1911–1986), better known as Sonny Terry, was a celebrated Piedmont blues harmonica player and singer. The two first collaborated in the early 1940s and continued their partnership for many years, touring and recording until 1980. This recording showcases the duo at the height of their musical skill. The selections on this session are more urban than previous efforts, and represent a move to a more sophisticated sound than previous sets by either musician.
The liner notes offer insight into the musical relationship between two giants of the blues.
Rashad & Confidence- The Element Of Surprise LPx2
After putting out Beneficence’s critically acclaimed "Sidewalk Science" album earlier this year, Ill Adrenaline Records is back to hit the hip-hop world with another throwback-sounding classic release. Rashad & Confidence, two longtime students of the game, finally drop their long-awaited debut album, "The Element of Surprise". This up-and-coming MC/producer duo, hailing from Brooklyn and Philly, merged to create a record with a timeless sound reminiscent of hip-hop’s golden era but with a fresh, updated feel. With no guest appearances or other producers involved, Rashad & Confidence embody the sound real hip-hop heads yearn to hear, going back to the times of Gang Starr and Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. The soulful hitting and sample-based boom bap beats courtesy of Confidence capture the pure essence of classic hip-hop production while Rashad’s deep and conscious lyrics slice through each track with topics ranging from various life issues to relationships or just raw lyrical display. Push the play button and get taken back to a time when hiphop only produced classic albums.

Side 3 is "Loscil's Rubies", the 20-minute bonus track remixed by Scott Morgan, who also remixed 'Kaputt''s side 3 bonus.
Hawkwind- Hall Of The Mountain Grill LPx2
The band's best studio album, coming off of the success of Space Ritual. The group's rock roots are juxtaposed effectively with the swelling synthesizer flourishes and pretentious song ideas, creating the quintessential guitar-oriented space rock record. The highlight was the live recording of "You'd Better Believe It," with its crunchy guitars, but nobody minded keyboardman Simon House's languid synthesizer-laden "Hall of the Mountain Grill" (especially as it was followed by the Lemmy-sung "Lost Johnny," a great all-out rocker). The sound, especially the mix of ballsy high-volume guitar playing and soaring electronic keyboards ("The Psychedelic Warlords," "D-Rider"), would later get co-opted by outfits such as Blue Öyster Cult ("(Don't Fear) The Reaper") and Kansas. Overall, this is the sound and imagery that the punkier kids and druggies who went to shows like Laserium were looking for, and if the producers of Laserium had devised something hooked around this record, it could have run 20 years or better. (AMG)
Hawkwind- Doremi Fasol Latido LPx2
Doremi may not be Hawkwind's most renowned album, but it carries the same type of prog rock spaciness as their first two releases. Even though the keyboard playing is trimmed down just a tad, the introduction of Ian Kilmister, otherwise known as Lemmy of Motörhead fame, makes up for it. With Lemmy's hard-lined guitar playing and Del Dettmar's synthesizer stabs, tracks like "Space Is Deep" and "The Watcher" are infused with elaborate instrumental meanderings in perfect Hawkwind fashion. The longer tracks, both "Brainstorm" and "Time We Left This World Today," have Lemmy getting settled in the band's extraordinary milieu, but end up being the album's strongest cuts. There's a harder feel to the songs all the way through, with the guitar and drums coming to the forefront ahead of Dik and Mik's "generators" and "hot electronics." Doremi is the inaugural album for drummer Simon King, and with guitarist Dave Anderson and percussion man Terry Ollis now departed, Hawkwind still manages to muster up a firm intergalactic space-metal atmosphere...only with a more rugged thrust.

James Brown- Hell LPx2
Brown's early-'70s run of classic singles and good-to-great albums is still impressive. Hell was the double album released a year after the gold selling The Payback. To some, the title might put this effort in the realm of kitsch, but in many ways Hell was one of Brown's strongest albums. The album was the pinnacle of his work as the Minister of the Super New New Heavy Funk. From the tough and nimble Latin rhythms of "Coldblooded," and "Sayin' It and Doin' It" to the title track, all are prime pre-disco Brown. "My Thang" is probably as hard and unrelenting as he got without spontaneously combusting. The biggest surprise of Hell is that no matter how odd the song choices seemed, practically everything worked.

V/A- The Lost Note Books Of Hank Williams LP (vinyl includes free CD version)
As one of the few American singer/songwriters whose legacy rivals Hank Williams, it’s no surprise that Bob Dylan was entrusted with a collection of lyrics Hank left behind, the idea being that Dylan could set them to music. Dylan decided it was a project too big for one man so he recruited a number of like-minded artists to turn these words into songs, choosing artists with some measure of debt to Williams no matter their purported stylistic designation. That said, it is the country singers -- Alan Jackson, Vince Gill and Rodney Crowell, Merle Haggard -- who, along with Dylan, create songs that stay true to Williams’ melodies and aesthetic, Haggard tackling a religious text, Gill and Crowell reviving Hank’s midsong recitation, and Jackson effortlessly evoking classic postwar honky tonk. These are songs whose structure and sound are right in line with Hank's classic work, but the rest of The Lost Notebooks is a little more malleable, at least in terms of arrangement. Jack White and Norah Jones produce work that’s recognizably their own -- White’s voice cracks over a ramshackle rhythm, Jones sighs like a lullaby -- yet these feel like reinterpretations of old Hank tunes, as does Levon Helm’s woolly “You’ll Never Again Be Mine,” with only Sheryl Crow’s “Angel Mine” and Jakob Dylan’s “Oh, Mama, Come Home” edging close to melodies that you’d hear on their respective solo records. Even then, Crow and the younger Dylan hardly play loose with the material; they treat it with respect but not undue reverence, something that unites all the artists here. On the surface of things, this is a bit of an odd task, taking left-behind lyrics from one of the great songwriters and breathing life into them. But nobody here seems intimidated; they seem honored -- and there are some pretty good songs that come out of the project, particularly those by Jackson, Haggard, White, Jones, Gill and Crowell, and the Bard himself, who helped shepherd this fantasy project into something real, imperfect, and resonant.

Digital Underground- Sex Packets LP
1990. Sex Packets is a vibrant, wildly funny record that transcends any attempt to dismiss it as mere novelty. Novelty records are throwaways -- cheap gags that are funny once, but never pay off with repeat plays, something that Sex Packets certainly does. Sex Packets is layered like any good story. Corny jokes, gross-out tales, flights of fancy, and sheer absurdist humor co-exist comfortably, usually within the course of one song. Take \"The Humpty Dance,\" their breakthrough single and timeless party anthem. Within that one song, Humpty Hump spills out countless jokes, spinning between inspired allusions and thuddingly obvious cut-ups, which are equally funny because of the irrepressible, infectious nature of his rap. And he's so confident in his skills, he's sexy, which is kind of what the album is about -- it knows that sex is funny, and sexier because of it. But the very name of the album should be a clear indication that Digital Underground doesn't take any of this stuff all that seriously while creating elaborate, fantastical settings that reveal boundless imagination. (AMG)

Gates Of Slumber- The Wretch CD
Indiana's exponents of true Doom Metal, The GATES OF SLUMBER, return with this monstrous slab of poseur crushing heaviness. Recorded at Orgone Studios, London with Jaime Gomez Arellano, (Ulver, Ghost, AEthenor, Angel Witch, etc.), 'The Wretch' is an uncompromising return to the heavy, slow Saint Vitus inspired all out Doom. Featuring new drummer Cool Clyde, the dynamics of the band have been opened wide and whilst there are now plenty of bands that think all you need to do to be really "heavy" is to just down-tune their guitars and play slow, TGOS realize there is more to the art than just this. By far their most focused release to date, 'The Wretch' is a must for all fans of heartfelt, melodic and HEAVY Metal!

The tribute includes 30 tracks by 33 Americana artists who are friends and colleagues of Clark or who have been influenced by his remarkable compositions.
Tangerine Dream- Phaedra CD
Phaedra is one of the most important, artistic, and exciting works in the history of electronic music, a brilliant and compelling summation of Tangerine Dream's early avant-space direction balanced with the synthesizer/sequencer technology just beginning to gain a foothold in nonacademic circles. The result is best heard on the 15-minute title track, unparalleled before or since for its depth of sound and vision. Given focus by the arpeggiated trance that drifts in and out of the mix, the track progresses through several passages including a few surprisingly melodic keyboard lines and an assortment of eerie Moog and Mellotron effects, gaseous explosions, and windy sirens. Despite the impending chaos, the track sounds more like a carefully composed classical work than an unrestrained piece of noise. While the title track takes the cake, there are three other excellent tracks on Phaedra. "Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares" is a solo Edgar Froese song that uses some surprisingly emotive and affecting synthesizer washes, and "Movements of a Visionary" is a more experimental piece, using treated voices and whispers to drive its hypnotic arpeggios. Perhaps even more powerful as a musical landmark now than when it was first recorded, Phaedra has proven the test of time.

Modern Space rock from American combo who started out supporting Nik Turner of Hawkwind.
Wizards of Kaos- S/T CD

After self-releasing their 'New World Mistress' EP, the band recorded their self-titled, full-length album at Ritche's Maghouse Studio in St. John's, Newfoundland. Set to be released by east coast metal label Diminshed Fifth Records, the album's 13 songs fuse stoner rock with heavy metal with emphasis on making things bigger, heavier, tighter and meaner than their previous EP. For fans of The Sword, Priestess, Corrosion of Conformity, Kyuss.

Ava Luna- Ice Level LP
Ava Luna are a buzz band right now, a beaming mix of ice-cool vintage '80s no wave grooves and extra-lush three-part girl group harmonies. Touch points include TV on the Radio, Dirty Projectors, and Yeasayer, but that's barely scratching the surface since Ava has infectious, minimalist, ESG-style beats for days. After tons of singles and self-released things, they're finally releasing their proper first full-length, Ice Level, via Infinite Best.

Bright Eyes- Letting Off Happiness LP
Just reissued on vinyl! The second full-length release from Omaha wunderkind Conor Oberst is a fascinating coming of age for a singer/songwriter whose respectability is chiseled in stone through his musical abilities. This ten-track outing is a lo-fi bonanza of heartfelt tunes that features musical contributions from members of such critically acclaimed groups as Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, and Lullaby for the Working Class. Special guests aside, it is Oberst's acoustic guitar and wavering emotional vocals that turn songs like the opening "If Winter Ends" into fragile masterpieces. There are also full-on rock numbers like "The City Has Sex" that help to push the envelope, and others like the Dylan-esque "June on the West Coast" that showcase the one-man band aspect of Bright Eyes. Letting Off the Happiness is a powerful record that manages to stay believable in light of the tortured emotions it tries to convey. It was recorded before Oberst was even out of his teens, but he shows the maturity of a songwriter who has seen it all, and for that he deserves respect and maybe a bit of incredulous inspection. This is a powerful record that has the ability to reach inside and identify with the listener, and while Bright Eyes went on to release some better-sounding and slightly more mature records, this one has the raw power to make people really stand up and notice.

Earl Hooker- Two Bugs & A Roach LP
"Though born in the Mississippi Delta, Earl Hooker's family moved to Chicago when he was just a baby and by the mid-'40s he was performing with one of the early legends of Chicago blues, Robert Nighthawk. Hooker is perhaps best known for his distinct slide guitar style and as a sideman for such luminaries as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and John Lee Hooker (his cousin). In 1968, he assembled a crack band including Pinetop Perkins, and Freddie Roulette, and they're heard here in fine form on what is probably Hooker's most well-known and best recorded effort." Includes download card.
Mississippi Fred McDowell- Vol.2 LP
"Fred McDowell's Vol. 2, originally released on Arhoolie in 1966 is one of the finest recorded examples of the Hill Country Blues style. With a distinctive and hypnotic guitar style McDowell powers through 12 tunes here, almost all originals. A stone classic." Includes download card.
Lightnin' Hopkins- Lightnin' Sam Hopkins LP
"Recorded in Berkeley, CA and Houston, TX during the winter of 1961-62, Lightnin' Sam Hopkins features a stripped-down blues trio on some of the most intimate and powerful recordings of Hopkins' long and storied career. An absolute classic of electric Texas blues." Includes download card.
Lil Son Jackson- S/T LP
"Texan bluesman Melvin Lil Son Jackson was a contemporary of Lightnin' Hopkins who originally recorded for the Gold Star and Imperial labels in the '40s and '50s. A car accident in the mid-'50s led to Jackson giving up the music career and returning to work as a mechanic. Arhoolie's Chris Strachwitz pulled him out of retirement in 1960, convincing him to record this classic and rare Texas blues LP. Reissued in all its original glory." Includes download card.
Mance Lipscomb- Texas Sharecropper & Songster LP
"The very first release on the legendary Arhoolie label, from way back in 1960, is also the first for Texas acoustic blues great Mance Lipscomb who was a mere 65 years old at the time of its release. Prior to being discovered by the label's founder, Chris Strachwitz, Lipscomb had spent his life as a sharecropper in his hometown of Navasota, Texas. Lipscomb's discovery was one of the greatest by-products of the blues and folk revival of the late '50s and early '60s as this fantastic vinyl reissue of his first album will attest. Classic country-blues from a master." Includes download card.

Gangrene- Vodka & Ayahuasca LP
Take a sip and get ready to trip, ‘cause famed producer and emcee The Alchemist, and west coast rapper/beatsmith Oh No continue their grimy collaboration as Gangrene. Their new album, "Vodka & Ayahausca" is a follow-up to their gritty opus "Gutter Water". With both Al and Oh making beats and holding down the mic, their new record weaves a psychedelic, head-nodding, substance-laden tale. The album rocks choice features, including Kool G Rap on the mid-tempo masterpiece "Gladiator Music", Prodigy on the quintessential, "Dump Truck", and longtime allies Evidence and Roc C spitting over blunted boast, "Dark Shades". In addition, New York’s own (and Greneberg EP collaborator) Roc Marciano blasts off on the suggestive "Drink Up". The top notch collabs blend right in to the album from beginning to end and will have you tripping like a jungle shaman’s brew. While ayahuasca (pronounced aya-hwaska) - a natural trip-inducing brew containing DMT - may not be a term on the tongue of your every day hip hop head, that’s soon to change.

Thee Oh Sees- Carrion Crawler/The Dream LP
What's the first thing you think of when someone mentions THEE OH SEES? Probably their riot-sparking live show, right? Visions of a guitar-chewing, melody-maiming John Dwyer careening across your cranium, rounded out by a wild-eyed wrecking crew that drives every last hook home like it's a nail in the coffin of what you thought it meant to make 21st-century rock 'n' roll? Yeah, that sounds about right. But it misses a more important point - how impossible Thee Oh Sees have been to pin down since Dwyer launched the project in the late 90s as a solo break from such sorely missed underground bands as Pink and Brown and Coachwhips. Now, Thee Oh Sees chase the home-brewed symphonies of 'Castlemania' with the scrappy, high-wire hooks of 'Carrion Crawler'/'The Dream'. Originally envisioned as two EPs, it was cut live to tape in less than a week, reflecting the battering-ram bent of the band's live show better than any bootleg ever could. To listen is to realize that Dwyer's music is as manic as the underground comic inclinations of his artwork; colorful and confusing in a way that’s more than welcome. It is downright refreshing, like a slap in the face at 5:00 in the morning.
Mount Eerie- Black Wooden LP
In high summer of 2007, Phil Elverum, in the guise of MOUNT EERIE, found his way to Southern Studios. Armed with a borrowed guitar and some notebook paper, and with little time before an evening gig, Mount Eerie and Southern's engineer Harvey Birrell recorded the six songs of 'Black Wooden'. Limited to 1000 copies.
